Incredible Photographs Of Frozen Lighthouses By A Lake

Photographer Tom Gill has put his keen eye for environmental and landscape wonders to work by documenting the frozen lighthouses found in the southeastern area of Lake Michigan.

The frozen ice accumulates to form beautiful, other-worldly 'sculptural' formations.

The 35-foot St. Joseph that was first built in 1844, is Gill’s favorite lighthouse. During winter storms, when the surrounding air reached incredible temperatures of -20 degrees celsius, the lighthouse would gather thick layered sheets of ice as tall, terribly cold waves crashed into the piers.
