Australian artist Ron Mueck is renowned for his uncannily life-like sculptures—at first glance, his creations look like real human beings.
The first thing that would gives these amazingly hyper-realistic installations away will probably be their proportions—while some are scaled down miniatures, others are huge pieces that dwarf actual people.
Featuring saggy folds of skin, hairy skin and sweaty sheen, these astounding sculptures naturally take a long time to perfect—Mueck took two years to produce three new sculptures for his latest show at the Fondation Cartier in Paris.
View images of these new sculptures—including a fascinating, over-sized version of a sun-bathing elderly couple—below and head over here for a behind-the-scenes look at their creation process.
