Screenwriter Evan Daugherty, known for his work with the film Snow White and the Huntsman, has come up with a series of short films that give us a grittier look at the innocent video game characters we loved during childhood.
His first two short fillms, called The Fixer and The Addict, feature Mario and Luigi struggling with their own problems while on the way to save Princess Peach.
Some tropes, like the magic mushrooms and added fire powers are familiar, but it is the punchy writing and gorgeous cinematography that make these films worthy of watching.
