Every year, Christmas arrives early for the children of writer Refe Tuma—they enjoy a month of wonder and excitement dubbed ‘Dinovember’ by Tuma and his wife.

For the month of November each year, the creative parents make their kids’ dinosaur figurines ‘come alive’ at night by enacting story-world scenes with handmade props and a good dose of imagination.

Tuma and his wife go all out in arranging these creative scenes—the dinosaurs attending a painting class, playing board games, sitting pretty at a tea party, and rocking out in a jamming session.

The couple has no qualms about making a mess of the house, including ‘ransacking’ their own kitchen, breaking a vase, and spray painting their walls.

“In the age of iPads and Netflix, we don’t want our kids to lose their sense of wonder and imagination,” Tuma explains. “Childhood is fleeting, so let’s make sure it’s fun while it lasts.”
