USA-based multidisciplinary design studio Upwell invaded an IKEA showroom recently to showcase their new product, Walhub.
Walhub is as “a functional switch cover that provides storage for the objects that often come and go with you”, referring to small items such as keys or mail.
They were so confident of their design that they got a member of their team—Justin Porcano—to dress as an employee at IKEA, and placed their product on display at where they ideally saw it being used in the home.
Their bold move brought about big results, as many shoppers interested in the product took it to the checkout counter. It sent the actual IKEA employees into a mass of confusion.
