
For its 14th Annual Survey of Global English, The Global Language Monitor (GLM) has released the lists of top words, phrases and names of 2013.
According to GLM, the top word of the year is “404”; which is followed by “Fail” that comes in second, and “Hashtag” that comes in third. This, in a way, shows that we spend too much time on the internet, don’t you think?
The top phrases of 2013: “Toxic Politics”, “Federal Shutdown” and “Global Warming/Climate Change”.
Names-wise, “Pope Francis” comes in first, followed by “ObamaCare” and “NSA”.
