Paris-based artist Jonathan Bréchignac has created incredibly intricate illustrations of carpets with complex patterns using regular ballpoint pens.
Dense with fascinating details, these life-sized illustrations are painstakingly made by hand—while the artist is inspired by actual carpets, he has also creatively added in surprising elements like QR-codes and realistic drawings of bright chewing gum made with color pencils.
In ‘The Blue Carpet’, he has also used ultraviolet ink, which means that part of the artwork will glow in the dark—the piece will be on display at the Villa Empain in Brussels, Belgium from 27 September 2013 to 4 February 2014.
