After letting people walk around in a “Rain Room” without getting wet, London-based art studio rAndom I nternational has created an installation where visitors “get absolutely soaked in the process” of interacting with it.

“Tower: Instant Structure for Schacht XII”, made for the Ruhrtriennale Art Festival in Germany, is an impressive performantive structure that consists of a huge metal frame hanging off the side of a building.

Raining down 30,000-liters of water a minute on a random cycle, the installation creates a “ephemeral tower that appears and disappears instantaneously”.

Festival-goers are invited to step into the middle of the installation to experience the thunderous roar of falling water and the sensation of moisture in the air—they can also walk right into the “walls” of water and have fun dancing in the “rain”.

The installation can be found at the Zollverein Coal Mine Industrial Complex in Essen, Germany—it will be in operation from now to 6 October 2013.
