In its latest ‘Thingstarter’—a series of parody Kickstarter videos where they poke fun at budding entrepreneurs asking for funding on various projects—the folks at Above Average Productions created a faux project that features a couple of designers trying to raise money to give the homeless more gorgeous, handcrafted signs.
‘Shocked’ at the horrible conditions of the typical cardboard signs of the homeless—that are usually flimsy cardboard pieces with “sloppy handwriting” and have “way too much copy”—the Brooklyn-based design duo decided to “tackle the problem head on” by creating more compelling copy and designs.
The parody project, called ‘Better Homeless Signs’, features signs that are “punchy”, have “a sense of humor” and “emotional appeal”—from a sexy-looking one to one that says “f*** rich people”, and a meme-like one that reads “OMG I’M HOMELESS”.
