Art is oftentimes an emotional outlet for people—the same can be said for 20-year-old photographer Christian Hopkins, who has been battling depression for four years.
Using photography as a coping mechanism for his depression, Hopkins has captured a series of surreal self-portraits that reflects the anguish that goes through his mind.
Hopkins originally planned to delete the pictures, but his friend, Redditor Musketman, decided to share them online.
Hopkins acknowledged that he’s fine with his works existing and hopes that they might help others going through similar struggles.
“If anything, I hope I helped someone with my photography. They’re me. Perhaps they are you as well. Maybe they’re neither. Maybe they’re we.”
