The World’s Largest Sweater Is Big Enough For A Building

A municipality in Istanbul, Turkey has knitted a gigantic sweater that has recently claimed the Guinness World Record title of “World’s Largest Sweater”.

Inspired by Canada’s “National Sweater Day”, the massive 151-feet long, 52.5-feet wide sweater is part of a campaign to raise awareness for the issue of energy wastage—it promotes energy conservation by urging people to turn down heaters and stay warm by simply overlaying with warmer clothing.

Knitted by 90 people over a period of 30 days, more than 500 kilograms of wool yarn were used in the making of this huge garment.

It was later hung in front of the municipal building, creating a funny scene where the building appears to be “wearing” the striped sweater.
