Edinburgh-based artist Jessica Harrison has created a collection of creepy miniature furniture that look like they have been crafted out of human skin and flesh.
The “Handheld” series of skin sculptures has a texture that looks disturbingly similar to that of human skin—complete with lines, wrinkles and even hair.
Each piece of the collection is photographed as held in the palm of a real hand, which gives the uneasy impression that they are extensions of the flesh-and-blood human body.
According to Juxtapoz, the artist creates these realistic sculptures by casting the palms and back of her own hands.
This is not the first time that Harrison is delving into the grotesque with her art—she has previously created these bloody and gory Victorian-style ceramic figurines.
