To support the increasing number of cyclists in Zurich, Switzerland, the government—with the help of designers—has unveiled a ‘drive-in’ for bicycles.

Called ‘Velokafi’, the drive-in lets cyclists ride up to and park at a table, and have a meal without getting off their wheels.

The specially-designed Velokafi consists of a table top and wooden docking stations—it can be found at the terrace of a popular local Swiss riverside eatery Rathaus Café.

Cyclists who use Velokafi currently get a free cup of coffee, courtesy of Rathaus Café and coffee brand Gipfelstürmer.

The Velokafi is part of the city council’s Stadtverkehr 2025 program, which aims to improve transportation infrastructure, for pedestrians, cyclists and motorists.

Cyclists, what do you think of a ‘drive-in’ for bicycles?
