In Needle-Poked Canvas, Tiny Holes Recreate Entire Photos

Tel Aviv, Israel-based artist Michal Taharlev recreates old family photos by poking tiny holes through canvas.

In his series entitled ‘Holes in the memory’, he uses a 0.5mm needle to continuously poke a sheet of canvas to create tiny dots that eventually make up the image.

“The use of a needle on a photo and the violet act of damaging and obsessing over memories, yet in a very strict manner, gives a new meaning to the innocence and the unknown future the photos hold,” Taharlev told Design Milk.
