To celebrate the 150 years of the London Underground, Penguin Books has released “Penguin Lines”, a series of 12 books, each inspired by a different Tube line.
12 writers have been commissioned to contribute to the series—the result is a diverse and vibrant collection of unique, modern tales that centers around London’s subway routes.
The covers of the Penguin Lines books will likely excite bibliophiles and design enthusiasts—designed by Penguin Press’s art director Jim Stoddart, in conjunction with the various authors, the covers feature ample white space, a revamped logo at the top left corner and a distinctive separation of typographic elements (bottom) and image (top).
Presented in unconventional formats,—from sketchbook to mini book-magazine—the stories in these books will be relatable for anyone who have ever rode on the London Tube, or any other modern subway system.
