Atlanta-based fine art photographer Sheila Pree Bright has a fascinating piece of work that makes one ponder the ideals of beauty that are imposed even in the toy world.
Her work titled ‘Plastic Bodies’ digitally manipulates a photo to show half a real woman’s face and half a doll’s face joined together as a portrait.
The differences between doll and human then becomes apparent as the juxtaposition shows a glaringly obvious difference between each face. Dolls have larger, more beautiful eyes. More pronounced noses, and so on.
Her work only shows one thing, and it is that the fantastical ideal of beauty is not a standard that women should have to compare themselves to.
