Da Vinci's ‘Mona Lisa’ Re-Imagined As A Photograph

After showing us how Van Gogh may have looked like in real life, Lithuanian Tadao Cern has now re-imagined Leonardo Da Vinci’s Mona Lisa as a photograph.

Part of his “Revealing The Truth” series, the photographer used photo retouching techniques to transform the iconic artwork into a sharp, life-like photograph of Da Vinci’s most famous subject.

In this updated version of the painting, we get to view Mona Lisa's finer details, including the lines and freckles on her skin and the embroidery on her dress.

Starting with an actual photograph of a model who has been dressed to look like Mona Lisa, Cern has documented his digital editing process in a series of behind-the-scenes images—you can view them below.
