The Kirbys from Oklahoma make their sons’ school lunches less boring by packing colored napkins along with their food. These are not any ordinary napkins, but white napkins decorated with meticulously illustrated cartoon and comic art rendered in colored ink.
The couple has been doing this since their first son started first grade, and continue to create ‘art napkins’ for both their sons today. The illustrations are typically based on events and happenings in the family’s lives, and have made great conversation topics between friends and teachers.
