Microblogging site Twitter has been pervading the world of social media with unique services including emergency and natural disaster alerts, Starbucks’ tweet-a-coffee service, and the list goes on.
Recently, the luxurious Loews Hotels and Resorts made an addition to the list, with a service that allows visitors to book their rooms via Twitter.
From 19 November, 16 out of 19 of its properties will implement “social reservations”, giving potential customers an opportunity to enjoy a simple, hassle-free booking experience.
Social media users need only send a tweet to @Loews_Hotels with the hashtag #BookLoews, wait for a reply from a Loews travel planner, and be linked to a secure chat conversation with the planner to process further details.
“It will certainly change the interaction with younger travelers in the short term, and if this interaction is preferred by those travelers, this could, in turn, create loyalty, which would lead to more rooms booked,” said Adam Weissenberg, Vice Chairman and leader of Deloitte’s US Travel Hospitality and Leisure Practice.
