Finland used to be at the forefront of the mobile phone industry with Nokia, and the creators of the soon-to-launch Jolla smartphone would like to see the return of those golden days.
Consisting of former Nokia staff, the Jolla team is set to launch their first phone this month—the Finland-designed device is a mid-range handset that features a full touchscreen, a 8-megapixel camera and 16GB of internal storage.
The first phone to run on the Sailfish OS, Jolla may not have the most impressive technical specifications, but its interface is made to be intuitive and gesture-based for effortless navigation.
To appeal to the visually motivated, the phone also comes in a pleasing array of bright colors—if you are tired of all that chrome, black and white in the smartphone market, this may be just your thing.
Priced at around US$535, Jolla’s makers have stated that they plan to launch across Europe by the end of 2013—however, there is no information about when it will launch outside of the continent yet.
