A rare crossbreed between a zebra and a donkey was born in Italy four months ago. The awkwardly adorable ‘zonkey’, named Ippo, is the only one of her kind in Italy.
The story of how her parents met is an interesting one—Martin the zebra had rebelliously jumped the fence of his enclosure at an animal reserve in Florence, just to get close to Giada the donkey. His plucky act resulted in the successful birth of charming little Ippo 12 months later.
Ippo sports a fuzzy brown coat on her upper body and face, and two pairs of long, gangly legs decked in her father’s stripes. Do you see the resemblance in these photographs?
