We have featured quite a number of creative shelving options for books in the past, but this simple but fun “Balance Bookshelf” by Brooklyn-based designer Chris Cush still strikes us as refreshing.
Inspired by the traditional weighing scale, its creator meant for it to hold the user’s read and unread stack of books, thus acting as visual motivation for reading more.
However, it is not difficult to conceive of other ways to use it—for instance, classic literature could be balanced off with more contemporary books.
We think that it will also function really well as a display shelf for things other than books, including small potted plants, to create a statement decor piece in the home.
How will you use this creative balancing shelf?
