Parisian photographer Julien Mauve’s new photo series, ‘Lonely Window’, explores the ways digital interfaces have made people lonelier than ever.

His close-ups of blank, expressionless faces seem unusual, until you realize that the faces are concentrated on digital devices. The eerie glow on the faces comes from the light emanated from different monitors and screens.

“Digital interfaces have totally changed how we perceive and interact with the outside world. It’s taught us new ways to communicate without physically seeing or speaking to one another. Through its digital twilight glow, the screen becomes a window, opening to a new world while simultaneously introducing a new kind of loneliness,” reads a description on Mauve’s website.
