
Atlanta-based photographer James C. Lewis has come up with a photo series featuring gods and goddesses of the Yoruba religion.
These deities originated in Nigeria and are called “Orishas”, with each one presiding over a certain aspect of daily life. For instance, Oshun, the goddess of love, and Oko, the god of agriculture.
With specially made costumes adorning each model, Lewis gives new life to each deity, making them look larger-than-life and powerful.
