Chinese entrepreneur Mr Liu has come up with a vending machine that dispenses crabs that are still alive.
Placed in various parts of Hangzhou, the east of China’s Zhejiang province, these crabs are priced from US$3-US$9, and also dispense ginger and vinegar to those who are in need of condiments.
To ensure that the seafood remains fresh, the humidity and temperature in these machines have been adjusted—however, once they have been bought, the crabs thaw out and are able to move.
Mr Liu is cashing in on the demand for crabs during China’s Mid-Autumn Festival, and would like his machines to be present at supermarkets and subway stations.
