Singapore-based architecture firm Formwerkz Architects has recently conceptualized and designed an urban capsule-style hotel in the heart of its home city.
The hotel is named "The Pod", and it delivers comfort and quality in a small ‘box’ of a space.
Borrowing the concept of capsule hotels that were originally conceived in Japan, The Pod goes one step further to fill the gap between budget hostels and conventional hotels.
Offering not just cheap, convenient and basic accommodation, the cabin-like rooms are masterfully furnished and designed, albeit being only large enough to sleep in and often come stacked one atop the other.
Incorporated in each pod are personal lockers, a reading light, and a fold-down table. The beds are also covered in soft 300 thread-count cotton sateen sheets.
Although The Pod is an exercise in communal living, each Pod has its own privacy behind a pull-down blind.
This high-end capsule hotel also offers a range of services for the modern traveller, such as personalised concierge service, complimentary dry-cleaning and laundry service, the use of business suites, and Wi-Fi connectivity.
