French artist Patrick Blanc has created a vertical garden at the intersection of Montorgueil, Reaumur Sebastopol and the Great Boulevards in Paris.

Part of a private initiative to make Paris more eco-friendly, Blanc took seven weeks in March and April to plant the seeds, nurturing over 7,600 plants belonging to 237 individual species.

The garden covers a 250-square-meter wall which is 25-meters in height, sprucing up a previously “ossified” and lifeless area.

These plants will produce oxygen to help inhabitants cope with the smog, absorb access rainwater and regulate temperatures, and is a beautiful site for all passing by.

The wall will be officially inaugurated during Paris Design Week on 10 September 2013.
