“Soaked”
After photographer and filmmaker Davide Luciano told his food-stylist wife, Claudia Ficca, about a mobster who was assassinated in an Italian restaurant, they started thinking about how peoples’ dining experiences may be interrupted.
Their collaborative project, simply called “Meals Interrupted”, showcases elaborate spreads of food being destroyed under various circumstances.
Each piece is titled, with “Soaked” being a princess-themed birthday party interrupted by the rain, “Tossed”, which shows how lunches can be destroyed by the quintessential food fight, and of course, “Al Dente”, which is an interpretation of the mobster’s death.
Shot in Montreal, the couple’s living room and a neighbor’s backyard, this series shows the kind of beauty which can be found in destruction.
