Shortly after arriving in New York City seven years ago, Paul Sahner started documenting the various neighborhoods of the city with his camera—the resulting images and videos are housed on his website, NYC Grid.

The website not only features contemporary footage, but also has a fascinating “before-and-after” section, where Sahner pairs photographs from the past and present of certain locations—including Wall Street, the Manhattan Bridge and Park Avenue.

The vintage photographs were taken from the beginning to the middle of the 20th century, and provide a stark contrast with the scenes of today.

NYC Grid provides an interactive slider control for readers, which allow them to scroll seamlessly between the old and the new—head over here to experience this cool feature for yourself.
