British researchers from the University of Bristol and the Bristol Robotics Laboratory are developing a way for people to charge their phones with urine.

Normally regarded as a waste product, these scientists have cultivated bacteria so that it will break down the chemicals in urine.

Through this chemical process, a small electrical charge will be harnessed in a small microbial fuel cell, which will in turn power the phone.

So far, the researchers have generated enough power to send a text message, make a short phone call, and surf the web, but they are hoping to refine the process so that these capacitors will be able to power a mobile phone battery.
