
To bring a piece of the beach to the city, sand-sculptor Matt Long has created an amazingly detailed giant sandcastle in downtown Manhattan’s financial district.
Measuring 18 feet, this intricately crafted sand sculpture looks wonderfully out of place in the middle of New York City, surrounded by towering skyscrapers—its design features renaissance architectural elements, such as turrets and drawbridges.
This larger-than-life sandcastle is part of a campaign to bring “free and fun summer events to tourists and New Yorkers”.
Long has also created a second sculpture of a massive ship rolling on sandy waves at the city’s South Street Seaport—view more images of his spectacular creations below.
