This year marks the 50th anniversary of the sports car, Porsche 911.

To celebrate this milestone, the German car brand engaged British artist Gerry Judah to create a towering sculpture at Goodwood Festival of Speed.

The towering 115-foot tall sculpture features three iconic Porsche 911s soaring into the sky like rockets.

Supported by white hollow steel plates, each vehicle precariously balancing at the tip of the structure represents a different generation of the 911: the original 1963 model; a limited edition 1973 Carrera RS model; and the latest 2013 model.

What’s impressive is the fact that the car sculpture stands at 11-stories high and weighs just over 22 tonnes, but yet has ‘legs’ narrow enough at the base for someone to wrap their hands around.

If Porsche were to permanently install this sculpture somewhere in the world, for all to view in person, it could become an awe-inspiring tourist attraction.
