California-based photographer Joshua Watson and his then-fiancee Rachel didn’t want to have typical, romance-themed engagement photographs—living just 30 minutes from Hollywood, they decided to take a set of creative shots that are inspired by movie posters.
With the help of photographer Jordan Nakamura, the resulting images closely parodied the original posters of well-known movies like Casablanca, An Education and Inception.
The creative couple also cleverly amended the movie titles and other text on the movie posters to information about their dating history and details of the upcoming wedding—for instance, the Walk The Line movie poster reads as Walk The Aisle in its corresponding engagement picture.
According to Nakamura, these engagement photos and the real movie posters look so much alike that Google Image Search is confused by them.
There are also a couple of shots in the collection that are inspired by popular TV shows How I Met Your Mother and Mad Men.
