As part of his final project at Hadassah College in Israel, Jerusalem-based designer Itay Kirshenbaum has created a series of do-it-yourself garden furniture made of concrete—all one has to do is add water.
Titled ‘Betzavta’, the series of chairs and tables comes in the form of a flat canvas bag containing a concrete powder mixture.
Water added to the canvas bag will wet the concrete mixture inside, allowing the product to be molded into the desired final shape through a system of pockets and wires. The furniture dries and is ready to be used after 24 hours.
Kirshenbaum calls ‘Betzavta’ a “social and environmental project which deals with activity experience in a community garden”.
