As part of the ‘SoundCloud Without Borders’ campaign to promote Fogg, a startup that provides “borderless internet access throughout Europe”, creative agency Perfect Fools partnered with Stockholm-based DJ Prova to create a song that recreates London’s iconic skyline with its sound waves.

Perfect Fools art director Karl Nord got the idea when he noticed that the sound waves of a song he was listening to bore a slight resemblance to the skyline of New York. He kept this idea till Fogg approached them to create something memorable.

Titled ‘The Sound of London’, the song is a upbeat, electro-house tune inspired by the British electronic music that Prova grew up listening to in the 90s.

Famous London landmarks such as Big Ben, St. Pauls Cathedral and the Houses of Parliament are easily recognizable in the song.

To reproduce the skyline in music, Prova first studied the London skyline to understand how to best arrange the song.

He said, “To create a skyline out of sound waves, you have to take both tempo and length into consideration. After that, I used different types of compressions and limiters and played around with lots of synths and envelopes to build the actual buildings.”
