With his technical mastery of carpet-making techniques, Azerbaijani artist Faig Ahmed reimagines the traditional art of carpet weaving by creating hand-woven carpets that appear stretched, bent and distorted.
To Ahmed, the carpet is a “symbol of invincible tradition of the East, it’s a visualization of an undestroyable icon.”
By distorting the physical form of the carpets, he is “destroying the stereotypes of tradition to create new modern boundaries.”
