Created by recent Kingston University design graduate Alice Kim, the ‘Plant Pregnancy’ project consists of a simple PVC maternity vest with a compartment that allows a young plant or seedling to be carried around.
The project is meant to open up people’s minds to how similar plants are to babies, and to remind them of the “care and attention” that they require to grow.
Said Kim, “The project is intended to illustrate the impact of a plant to a person to encourage community to treat plants as lovingly as pets or babies. The slight discomfort indicates the care that is being given.”
Once the seedlings have grown larger, the plants can be taken for a walk in Kim’s ‘Plant Stroller’.
