A Spray-Painted Church Fresco That Blends Fine Art & Graffiti Art

The Santa Eulalia Church outside of Barcelona recently unveiled an intriguing new fresco on its domed ceiling—spray-painted by a couple of Spanish graffiti artist, the religious painting is a fascinating blend of ancient and modern artistic styles.

Father Borr, the church’s priest, invited graffiti artists Rudi and House to study Romanesque frescoes in Barcelona before starting work on their unconventional artwork.

Although the final piece is unmistakably Romanesque with its flattened, cartoon-like perspective, there is also a certain contemporary vibe that makes it transcend the boundaries of both fine art and graffiti art.
