The team at Splinter Works has created a bathtub that is shaped like a hammock.
Miles Hartwell, co-founder of this design collective, was “struck by the synergy” of both the hammock and the bath tub, and wanted to come up a “vehicle for total escapism”.
The result is “Vessel”, a suspended bath tub that does not touch the floor.
Made of carbon fiber, the bath tub is supported by the walls like a hammock, albeit with stainless steel brackets.
The bath tub is also 2.7m long, which gives the user plenty of room to relax—a floor-standing tap has to be installed independently to supply the tub with water.
