In a bid to show that JPEG compression is lossy, London-based Tom Scott saved Shakespeare’s ‘Romeo and Juliet’ in various qualities and versions.
The text of the balcony scene was humorously transformed into:
“O Romep+ Rpldo wiepffnre arr!riov Romep@
Dgoy thz gatggr `me tefusf sgx n`me!”
Scott said: “Every time you edit and save a picture, some of the original content is lost. But it’s difficult to see that with the naked eye, so I compressed Shakespeare instead.”
Should we switch the format we save our images in?
