Every year, more than 100,000 people gather in Tultepec, Mexico, for the National Pyrotechnic Festival.

The festival is a celebration of Mexico’s firework industry, Tultepec being the largest producer of fireworks in Mexico.

The highlight of the festival is the “pamplonas” (Running of the Bulls), where around 250 wooden bull-shaped frames are loaded with up to 4,000 fireworks and run through the street alight for up to seven hours.

New York-based photographer Thomas Prior recently traveled to Tultepec to capture the fun and excitement at this amazing festival.

Check out some of his photos below, or head over to his website to see more.
