‘Wall-Free’ Graffiti Spray-Painted Onto Cellophane Instead Of Buildings

One of the most common complaints about graffiti art is that they are etched permanently onto public and private properties, whose owners may not appreciate its presence.

In response to this, some innovative graffiti artists, such as those from street art collective CelloGraff, started making their art on a less permanent canvas—large sheets of transparent cellophane.

By stretching out strips of cellophane between two supports—like trees and lamp-posts—these artists are able to create beautiful graffiti art that can pop up just about anywhere, and be taken down in just a few minutes if the need arises.

Without the need for walls or other structure to support their art, these artists are able to put up graffiti paintings—conventionally known as “urban art”—outside of the city, in natural settings.

The transparency of the cellophane also gives an added dimension of lightness and surrealist element to the graffiti—view more of “wall-free” pieces below.
