
Califronia-based artist Cristina Penescu creates beautiful, photorealistic portraits of animals by scratching ink off of clay.
This technique is called ‘Scratchboard’, where sharp tools are used to etch into a thin layer of ink coated white clay. Using this method, highly realistic and detailed artwork can be produced.
Penescu’s “artwork is very detail oriented and she aims to bring the viewer an up close, intimate look at nature”.
