The world's "only seven star hotel", in Dubai, Burj al Arab, has further asserted its spectacular opulence by offering their guests 24-carat gold plated iPads.

Emblazoned with the precious metal by British company Gold & Co. London, the glittering iPads will serve as the guests' "virtual concierge," which they can turn to if they need a tour of the hotel, restaurant information or details about spa treatments and butler services.

Commenting about this decision, Heinrich Morio, Burj Al Arab’s general manager mentioned that, "Our exclusive Burj Al Arab 24-carat gold iPads epitomise Jumeirah’s philosophy of 'stay different' and further enhance our guests’ experience during their stay."

Amjad Ali, CEO of Gold & Co. London, similarly felt that the gold-plated Apple devices are "the ultimate in luxury accessories," and that they are very fitting for the most luxurious hotel in the world.

"The symmetry is obvious," he said. "[B]oth the gold iPad and the hotel are unique in terms of extraordinary quality and design."

Does plating the iPad with gold, make it more 'luxurious'? Or is its sleek aluminium finish, more than enough?
