Gmail is revamping itself and will be offering us an inbox with four sections, comprising of your main inbox and three other feeds.
The main inbox—called the 'Primary' tab—should host all mail that you need to deal with immediately.
The rest of the tabs can host your secondary mail that concern things like social media feeds (e.g. Facebook updates, Twitter and Google+ notifications etc.), promotions (e.g. your favorite shopping store's e-flyer, Groupon offers) and just updates in general (e.g. news feeds that you subscribe to, e-receipts, bills).
This new layout was designed to help bring back the fleeting and coveted mailbox state of 'inbox zero' and enable users to feel less overwhelmed by their inbox number status ['inbox (2457)' never really put anyone at ease].
