Inspired by vibrantly colored microscopic life forms, San Francisco-based artist Klari Reis has created stunning hand-painted art on petri dishes that look like live bacteria samples.

‘The Daily Dish 2013’ is an ongoing project by Reis, who intends to post a petri dish painting every day in 2013. This is a follow-up to her 2009 project of the same nature, The Daily Dish 2009.

The Daily Dish project, which turns the serious nature of the subject into light-hearted art, explores our complex relationship with today’s biotechnological industry.

Each painting is unique in its color, shape, and form, reflecting the chaotic and uncontrollable way in which bacteria spreads.
