Based in Beijing, jewelry designer Zhang Fan gives traditional Chinese-style jewelry a modern twist.

Using ancient techniques, Zhang combines gold and bronze to an alloyed material that is more durable and elastic.

The designer also dyes the metal in various shades to create light and shadow, creating an effect that is reminiscent of the Chinese ink wash paintings of the past.
